  3. How to make sure you don’t leave money on the table / make sure all the awesome parts of you are showing up on your UC application.

Homework: Find Your Four UC Application Topics

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 • 10AM-4PM

Session 2 • How to Stand Out on the UC Application Essays

First, I’ll show you how to structure your story, plus I’ll provide you a step-by-step process for mapping it out—no matter what you’re writing about. Then, it’s time for you to write!

I’ll be on call in the Virtual Classroom, standing by to answer your questions as they come up. During this time you’ll get access to eight pre-recorded videos with tips on how to address each prompt, plus examples with analysis. At 3pm, we’ll begin the last hour of the session where we’ll workshop your essays, live!

Homework: Complete drafts of your four personal insight questions.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 • 10AM-4PM

Session 3 • Taking it to the Next Level: Advanced Writing Techniques & The Great College Essay Test (UC Version)

In this session I’ll first share some techniques past students have used to make their writing shining, shimmering, splendid (yeah, that’s an Aladdin reference). Then we’ll look at what it takes to write a GREAT personal insight question so you can see how your essay stacks up before you work on finishing up your essay drafts. And, once more, I’ll be on call during this time in the Virtual Classroom, standing by to answer your questions as they come up.

As we close out the day, I’ll read your essays aloud so we can celebrate your hard work. Then I’ll give you some tips for what to do next and tips on how how to receive feedback.
